How to apply for leave and unavailability as an employee in Tanda.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you have another commitment or otherwise won't be able to work your regular shifts, you can let your manager know by applying for leave or unavailability.

This help guide will explain how to request leave and unavailability in Tanda from an employee's perspective.

For details on leave and unavailability from a manager's perspective, see our Managing Leave Requests help guide.

Requesting Leave

Depending on your organisation's settings, you can request leave when you're unable to work. Generally, paid leave is reserved for part-time, full-time, or salaried employees and accrues as they work.

On Mobile

To create a new leave request via the Tanda Mobile App, navigate to the Leave tab on the navigation bar and select the blue + Add icon in the top right corner of your device.

You will be prompted to enter the following details when creating your leave request:

  • If the request is for a Part Day, Full Day, or spans Multiple Days.

  • The date(s) you want the leave request to cover.

  • [If you're requesting a Part Day of leave] The start and finish times of your leave request.

  • [Optional] The reason for the request.

  • [Optional] Upload any files associated with your leave request (e.g., a medical certificate).

Once you've submitted your leave request, your manager will be responsible for approving it.

On Desktop

To submit a new leave request on a Desktop device, navigate to Time & Attendance > Leave > + New Leave Request and fill out your leave request. You will be prompted to enter the same details as outlined above.

To learn more, please see our How to Submit Leave and Unavailability Requests help guide.

Requesting Unavailability

Depending on your account settings, you can apply for unavailability to let your managers know the days and times you can't work each week. Unlike leave, unavailability is unpaid and is simply a way of indicating when you can't work (oftemfor rostering purposes).

On Mobile

To create a new unavailability request on the Tanda Mobile App, navigate to the Leave tab of the navigation bar, click the Unavailability tab at the top of the page, then click + Add Unavailability Request.

You will be prompted to enter the following details when creating your unavailability request:

  • Repeat: Does the request repeat weekly, or is it a one-off (no repeat)?

  • Duration: Is the unavailability request all day or for a part day?

  • If it's a part-day request, select the start and finish time.

  • Enter the start and finish dates for your unavailability request.

  • Enter a reason (required).

Once you've submitted your unavailability request, your manager will be responsible for approving it.

On Desktop

To submit a new unavailability request on a Desktop device, navigate to Time & Attendance > Unavailability> + New Unavailability Request and fill out your unavailability request. You will be prompted to enter the same details as outlined above.

To learn more, please see our How to Submit Leave and Unavailability Requests help guide.

Managing Requests

To check whether your request has been approved and track the status of past requests, navigate to the Leave tab on Mobile or to Time & Attendance > Leave on Desktop.

If a request is labelled Upcoming, it means the requested date(s) have not yet passed. If a request is in the Past, it means the requested date(s) have already passed.

Pending leave requests are awaiting approval or refusal from your manager and will be highlighted in yellow.

Approved leave requests have been accepted by your manager. You will be paid according to the hours shown on the request (unless you've applied for unpaid leave). These requests are highlighted in green.

Rejected leave requests have been refused by your manager. They may choose to include a reason for declining your request, though this is not mandatory. These requests are highlighted in red.

The same classifications (pending, approved, and rejected) and colour coding also apply to unavailability requests.
