Casual Loading
📜 11.1 Casual loading
(a)
For each ordinary hour worked, a casual employee must be paid:
(i)
the minimum hourly rate for the classification in which they are employed; and
(ii)
a loading of 25% of the minimum hourly rate.
Under the Commercial Sales Award Casuals are entitled to a loaded rate at the multiplier of 1.25%. Casual loading in Tanda is applied using the multiplier method.
In the Employee Profile in Tanda the casual rate is expressed in the Monday to Friday pay rate with the base hourly rate showing the rate without the loading added. This is demonstrated in the below image:
The base hourly rate is always expressed as 1.25x on the timesheet and, where applicable, penalty rates are expressed with the additional casual loading amount.
Paying Above Award
Paying Above Award
If employees are paid a base rate higher than the Award Rate, simply enter the employee's base rate in the highlighted field below.
This will override the rate in the system, and penalty rates and overtime will be calculated from this new rate.
For further information please see the Pay Above Template article.
Managing Junior Rates
Managing Junior Rates
When setting up the employee’s profile please ensure their date of birth has correctly been entered. Tanda will automatically pull this age and apply the correct rate.
For example, if an employee is 16 years of age Tanda will automatically apply the correct rate for the classification. Please see the below:
Employee's age has been set to 16 years
Base hourly rate will populate based on the age set in the profile

Award Template Tags
In Tanda award tags are usually applied to a timesheet in order to apply a manual overtime rule or override an automatic overtime rule.
Under the Commercial Sales Managed Template these tags are:
Public Holiday Travelling Time
Public Holiday Travelling Time
📜 25.4 All travelling in connection with work by an employee at the request of the employer on a public holiday or a substitute day will be paid for at the rate of 150% of the minimum hourly rate with a minimum payment as for 3 hours’ travelling. Provided that instead of such payment, one and a half days’ leave with pay may be granted in respect of each holiday, at a time mutually agreed between the employer and the employee.
This shift tag is applicable when an employee is required to travel on a public holiday.
When the shift tag is applied to the timesheet it will pay the travel hours at a multiplier of 1.50x and will buffer the timesheet to 3 hours if the time travelled is less than this.
In order to ensure that the travel time multiplier is only applied to applicable time travelled, the time travelled and the time worked should be split on the timesheet.
Please see the below example.
Before the Application of the shift tag:
After the application of the shift tag:
Time Off In Lieu (TOIL)
Time Off In Lieu (TOIL)
When an employee has an agreement with their employer that overtime worked that would otherwise have been paid can be accrued as time off instead, they are agreeing to Time Off In Lieu (TOIL).
The Commercial Sales Managed Template contains TOIL conditions that can be applied instead of automatic overtime conditions per clause 19.3(a).
To categorise time worked as TOIL in Tanda, the shift must be tagged as TOIL so that time off can be accrued instead of overtime rates being paid. Per 19.3(d), time off will be accrued based on the overtime hours worked.
Once a shift has the TOIL tag applied, the overtime hours will no longer cost in the timesheet.
Please see the below example of the application of the TOIL shift tag when an employee has worked in excess of 10 hours in a day:
Before application of the TOIL shift tag:
After application of the TOIL shift tag:
