How Toast Integrates with Tanda
Toast is a restaurant Point of Sale (POS) system that can be connected to Tanda to import sales data and support costed rostering.
Tanda automatically imports order data from Toast every 15 minutes.
Imported data is organised by Toast restaurant location, with each location appearing as a separate data stream in Tanda.
Each data stream includes:
Sales: total revenue from orders in the period
Transactions: number of checks processed
Sales by category: revenue broken down by Toast sales category (e.g. Food, Beverages)
Important to note: Data is grouped by Toast restaurant location, so each location must be linked correctly in Tanda for accurate reporting.
Connect Toast to Tanda
In Tanda, navigate to Settings > Integrations > POS Integrations > + Add POS Integration.
Search for and select the Toast tile, then click Connect to Toast.
Click the Connection Guide button. This will display your unique pairing code in the format
WF-XXXXXX. Keep this page open as you will need this code in the next step.
In a new tab, log in to Toast Web and navigate to Partner Integrations. Search for Workforce/Tanda and add it from the marketplace.
When prompted for a Group ID, enter your pairing code from Step 3. If you have multiple restaurant locations, use the same pairing code for all of them.
Return to Tanda and click Refresh Restaurants. Your connected Toast locations will appear in the list.
Select the restaurants you want to connect and click Save Restaurants.
Note: If no restaurants appear after clicking Refresh Restaurants, double-check that you entered the pairing code correctly as the Group ID in Toast Web.
Once connected, you can see your sales being imported under Settings > Integrations > Manage Data Streams > Data Streams. Data streams are created within a few minutes of connecting the integration, with sales data continuously imported every 15 minutes thereafter.
From here, you can link each data stream to a specific location and team to make the data available across Tanda. See this guide for more on configuring data streams.
Configure Sales
After connecting, you can adjust how sales data is imported. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > POS Integrations > Toast > Edit Integration to access the following options:
Include VAT when importing revenue: When ticked, tax amounts are included in the sales figures imported into Tanda. Untick this to exclude tax from your revenue data.
Include service charge when importing revenue: When ticked, service charge amounts are included in the sales figures.
Revenue breakdown: By default, Tanda creates one data stream per restaurant showing total revenue. You can switch this to split revenue into a separate data stream per Toast sales category.
Using Toast Sales Data in Tanda
Sales data imported from Toast is available across Tanda and can be used to analyse performance and inform staffing and budget decisions. These areas include:
Live Insights: View a breakdown of predicted vs actual sales and rostered vs actual staff counts for each day directly in the Dashboard.
Recommended Staff: Streamline rostering by using sales forecasts to recommend staff numbers in the roster based on expected demand.
Labour Budgets: Use integrated sales data to compare budgeted amounts against predicted revenue, helping you better configure cost budgets and plan rosters accordingly.
Roster Statistics: Customise what data you see in the roster to view predicted sales and statistics like Wage % Revenue or SPLH.
Cost Reports: View actual and predicted revenue in cost reports to analyse performance, monitor labour costs against revenue and identify variances against sales forecasts.

Make sure the pairing code shown in Tanda's Connection Guide has been entered exactly as the Group ID in Toast Web. The code is case-sensitive and must match exactly, including the WF- prefix. If you have updated the Group ID in Toast, click Refresh Restaurants in Tanda again.
