What is the Casual Employment Information Statement:
From 26 August 2024, non-small businesses will need to provide the Casual Employment Information Statement (CEIS) at the below intervals throughout a casual's employment:
At the start of employment;
After 6 months of employment;
After 12 months of employment; and
Every subsequent 12 month anniversary of employment thereafter.
The sending of the CEIS on the different anniversaries of employment will be automated in Tanda. Please see below for information on how this will work.
For small businesses, the CEIS will need to be sent at the start of employment and after 12 months of employment from 26 August 2024. Small businesses can utilise the below automation as well.
How it works
The sending of the CEIS on the 6 month, 12 month and subsequent 12 month anniversaries will be automated in Tanda based off the Employment start date of the casual employee.
The Employment start date of an employee is entered when the employee is onboarded into Tanda. The Employment start date can be found by navigating to Workforce > Staff > selecting the name of the relevant employee > in the Personal Details tab scroll to the bottom of the page > the Employment start date will display per the below:
The CEIS will automatically be sent to the employee on the 6 month, 12 month and subsequent 12 month anniversaries based on the date entered above.
Important to note: The automated sending of the CEIS is based on the use of the standard casual employment type tags.
If you have configured custom casual Employment Type tags in Tanda that are unique to your account the sending of the CEIS will not be automated.
You can utilise the Documents feature to issue the CEIS to employees that are set up on unique tags.
What the employee will see
When the CEIS is sent to the employee on one of the above listed anniversaries of employment they will be notified via email:
By clicking on the link in the email the employee will be directed to view the CEIS and the option to acknowledge receipt of a link to the CEIS.
The below banner will also display in the employee's Tanda mobile App:
When they click on the banner they will be taken to the below page in the mobile app:
From here the employee can view the Casual Employment Information Statement on the Fair Work Ombudsman website by clicking the here button. This link will take the employee to the most up to date version of the CEIS at the time.
The employee can then acknowledge that they have been provided with the CEIS:
Where is the sending of the Statement recorded?
When the CEIS is sent during on one of the anniversaries of employment, this is recorded in the employee profile.
This can be found by navigating to Workforce > Staff > selecting the name of the relevant employee > click the HR tab > Contracts & Docs > in this tab the contracts and documents issued to the employee via Tanda will display here including the CEIS when sent during employment:
The Status of Pending indicates that the CEIS has been issued to the employee but they have not yet acknowledged it in the Tanda mobile app.
Once the employee has acknowledged the CEIS in the Tanda mobile app, the Status will change to Acknowledged. The date it was acknowledged will be recorded under Date Actioned:
