This article outlines how to make changes to employee profiles and how these changes will affect your super batches. For a definition of the super fund fields in staff profiles, see the Super Funds section of our Tanda Payroll Setup Checklist help article.
To change the super fund that contributions are allocated to, firstly ensure that the new super fund has been configured in the Membership field of the employee's profile:
Click on the Contribution that you would like to update and select the new super fund:
Note: If an employee updates their superannuation fund after onboarding, the new fund will be added to their payroll profile, and an ESS (Employee Self Service) notification will be triggered.
However, this does not update the super contribution settings automatically. Any changes to super contributions will need to be made manually.
On this form, you can also disable/enable the Quarterly Maximum Super Contribution Cap if required:
FAQs
Why was my employee's member number automatically removed?
Why was my employee's member number automatically removed?
When you have SuperAPI connected with Rest Super, it can sometimes clear an employee's member number. There are a few reasons this can happen:
1. ATO Super Stapling response:
When SuperAPI queries the ATO's super stapling service for a new employee, the ATO returns the employee's "stapled" fund. If the fund in Tanda doesn't match the stapled fund, or if the member number submitted doesn't match what the ATO has on record for that fund, SuperAPI may null it out so a valid one can be assigned.
2. Fund-level rejection of the member number:
When SuperAPI submits a contribution to Rest Super, the fund validates the member number against the employee's TFN, name, and DOB. If the fund returns an error saying the member number is unknown or doesn't match those details, SuperAPI clears it to prevent repeated failed submissions.
3. Employee is a new/unallocated fund member:
If the employee has never been a member of Rest Super before (no existing account), there is no member number to supply. SuperAPI may clear a placeholder or erroneous value when it confirms through the ATO that no account
exists yet.
5. Fund merger or account consolidation:
If Rest Super has consolidated or re-issued member numbers, SuperAPI can clear stale numbers so the fund issues a new one on the next contribution.
