New Timesheets Layout: What Has Changed?
New Timesheets Layout: What Has Changed?

A guide to navigating Tanda's updated Timesheets layout.

Updated over a month ago

This help guide will cover the upcoming layout update to our main Timesheets page (accessible via Time & Attendance > Timesheets), detailing what has changed and why.

For general information about timesheets, please see our Getting Started: Timesheets help guide.

IMPORTANT: We will begin rolling these changes out over the coming weeks. Please be assured that this update primarily affects how Timesheets look, feel, and perform, not their basic functionality or the data they generate. The overwhelming majority of changes are simply aesthetic or backend changes to improve the overall page functionality.

What Happened?

We are planning to release a new Timesheets layout. These changes will begin rolling over the coming weeks, and should be live in accounts on or before January 31st, 2025. The majority of changes are aesthetic improvements, as demonstrated in the below Before/After photos.

Before (Previous Timesheet View):

After (Updated Timesheet View):

These changes mirror our recent Staff List update, where we gave our main Staff List page a similar makeover. Now, the Staff List and Timesheets pages share the same layout for a more consistent, aligned user experience.

Why Did You Make These Changes?

There are a few key reasons for this update.

Firstly, we recently updated the Staff List page to a similar layout, and wanted to bring the rest of the product up to this same standard to create a more consistent, aligned, and intuitive user experience.

Secondly, the new ‘Columns to Display’ functionality (explained in detail below) gives users more flexibility and control over what information they see.

Additionally, many of the backend upgrades we made will pave the way for future improvements.

What Has Changed?

As mentioned, the vast majority of changes are aesthetic in nature. However, we have made a few other minor upgrades.

Specifically, the ‘Cost’ column received a makeover. Previously, this column showed three distinct pieces of information: timesheet costs, previous timesheet costs, and the percentage difference between these two figures. For example:

Now, these are separated into two columns: ‘Cost’ and ‘Previous Cost.’ Where applicable (i.e. whenever a 'previous cost' exists), the percentage change is still shown in the ‘Cost’ column. For example:

Additionally, the toggle to hide costs (the eye icon highlighted in blue above) has been removed. Instead, you can simply unselect the ‘Cost’ column via Columns to Display.

Other changes include:

  • The buttons to import, lock, and unlock timesheets and recalculate costs are now all located in the ‘More actions’ menu. These were previously separate buttons located above and below Timesheets. Now, they’re all grouped together in one menu for greater ease of access. For example:

  • We have introduced a ‘Columns to Display’ filter, allowing you to customise which columns your Timesheets generate. Simply select the columns you want to see, and unselect any that you don’t want to see! Learn more about ‘Columns to Display’ in our reports help guide.

  • We’ve introduced a new ‘Acceptance Status’ filter, pertaining to whether an employee has accepted their shifts. Learn more about shift acceptance in our help guide.

  • We’ve added a ‘Clear filters’ button (below the ‘Timesheet status’ filter)

FAQs

Can I still access/revert back to the old Timesheets page?

No, once we have released the new Timesheets view, you will not be able to revert back to the old view.

Please rest assured that all of your current data, information, and settings will be retained, while the update mirrors the functionality of the old page. We have only added new features with no functionality lost.

I’m having an issue with the new Timesheets view that isn’t covered in this guide. What should I do?
