How the Partner/Child Relationship Works
A partner account (also called a parent account) is an account that manages one or more customer accounts (also called child accounts).
This setup is typically used by franchise groups where a head office manages multiple locations, or by payroll officers managing Tanda on behalf of their clients.
As a partner, your account acts as the source of truth for shared configuration. You can push records like settings, award templates, leave types, positions, document templates, qualifications, and training templates down to all your child accounts to keep them consistent.
You can also view all your child accounts directly and impersonate users within those accounts to see exactly what they see and configure the account on their behalf.
Accessing Child Accounts as a Partner
Partner accounts have a dedicated Customers tab in their account overview. From here, you can see a list of all your current customer (child) organisations.
Clicking into any child organisation takes you into that account. From there, you can impersonate any user in the account, giving you full access to view and configure Tanda exactly as that user would see it.
Additionally, you can click Info under the Health Metrics column to see an overview of employee clock-ins, rostering, onboarding and app usage, a list of users in the account, connected devices, invoices and billing information, and connected integrations.
Partner reporting
Rather than logging in and running reports separately for all connected accounts, you can access partner account reports that pull data from all your child accounts from your main account.
These reports include:
Employee reports across all child organisations
Cost reports (wages, shifts, schedules) broken down by child organisation
Timesheets, recent commencements, recent departures, and shift audits
Find these under Reports > Partner Reports (only accessible if you have child accounts connected to your account).
Syncing Parent Settings/Templates to Child Accounts
Settings and templates can be pushed from the parent account to all of its child accounts. This allows organisations to maintain consistency across all child accounts and manage configurations from a single place, without needing to update each account individually, which is especially useful for franchise accounts.
This is only supported for eligible accounts on a three-tier setup (e.g., Partner Account 1 is a parent to Partner Account 2, Partner Account 2 is a parent to the child accounts):
With the setup as above, Account 1 can access the API Master Account tab on Account 2's overview
For this tab to appear, the account must also have access to configure clients using the API.
From this page, you can choose what to push from Account 2 to its customer accounts. See below for a list of each.
What gets synced
The following records can be synced from a partner account to child accounts:
Organisation settings
Award templates, award rules, leave types, and allowances
Qualifications
Positions
Parental consent templates
Contract templates, Documents and document bundles:
Templates keep syncing automatically as the master account updates them, while preserving any name the customer has given their copy.
Customers cannot edit or delete partner-managed templates.
If the partner deletes a template, the customer's copy stays but stops receiving updates.
Customers can set department visibility for onboarding documents themselves.
Survey templates
Form templates:
Forms are copied once (not continuously synced).
Payroll links are preserved where possible.
Customers can change the name and settings but cannot delete a partner-managed form.
Performance review templates
Training templates
Timeclock questions
Key alerts
SSO settings
Custom permissions and report permissions
Automatic break rule sets
Leave fill strategies
Custom events
If a new child organisation is created via the API, the following are copied across automatically:
Organisation settings
Award templates
Leave types
Allowances
Qualifications
Training templates
Parental consent templates
Positions
Documents & bundles
Contract templates
Custom events
Key alerts
SSO settings
Everything else in the list above must be manually triggered from the API Master Account tab.
Note that higher duties levels can also be synced, but only by the Tanda support team. Reach out to support@tanda.co if you need these pushed to child accounts. Doing so will replace existing higher duties levels on each customer's matching award template and rebuild rules.
What is not synced
The following cannot be synced between partner and child accounts:
SCORM training templates
Managed content templates from the shared content library
When you trigger a copy from the partner account, it pushes to all linked child accounts simultaneously. You cannot target a single child.
