This help guide will explain how to access and configure default automatic break rules for Tanda Payroll NZ.
By default, all Tanda Payroll NZ accounts are created with the following automatic break rules configured:
2.0 hours → 10 min "Rest Break" (paid, no clock-in required)
4.01 hours → 30 min "Meal Break" (unpaid, no clock-in required)
6.51 hours → 10 min "Rest Break" (paid, no clock-in required)
10.5 hours → 10 min "Rest Break" (paid, no clock-in required)
12.51 hours → 30 min "Meal Break" (unpaid, no clock-in required)
15.01 hours → 10 min "Rest Break" (paid, no clock-in required)
These align with the default break rules outlined by Employment New Zealand here.
To edit these defaults or configure your own custom break rule-set, navigate to Settings > Shift Breaks. Then, ensure you have enabled the setting ‘Enable break rules’. Once enabled, you can create and re-order as many custom rule-sets as you require.
To learn more, see our Tanda Payroll AU help guide: Setting Up and Managing Automatic Breaks, which follows a similar functionality.
