Under some Awards and Enterprise Agreements, employees are entitled to be paid at a higher rate of pay when performing certain duties. This concept is frequently referred to as higher duties.

This guide details how you can use teams in Tanda to automatically pay higher duties when employees work in specific teams.

Before you can automate the payment of higher duties, you will need to have award rules in your account that pay the applicable higher duty.

For further information on creating higher duties award rules in your account see below:

Once you have configured higher duties in your Modern Award Template or via custom rules, you then have the option to automate the application of the higher duties via Teams.

Tag Employees Who are Eligible to be Paid the Higher Duty

Firstly, to make it easier to view and edit higher duties on timesheets, you can enable the ability to manually view and edit higher duties tags on timesheets.

To enable this toggle on timesheets navigate to Settings > All Settings > Timesheets > View all timesheet settings > scroll down and click Show Advanced Settings and tick Show an extra dropdown to adjust shift cost (Award tag) and click Update Settings at the bottom:

This will allow for the higher duties tag to be added to the applicable employee's timesheet.

Linking Higher Duties Award Rules to Teams

To automate the application of higher duties via Teams navigate to Workforce > Teams > under the relevant Location click on the Team you would like to configure an automated higher duty for:

Scroll to Show advanced options...

Under Associated Tags search for the higher duties rate you would like to associate to this team.

For example, in the team below called 'Bar' all employees are to be paid at a minimum Level 3 rate. To do this the Level 2 Higher Duties tag can be saved in the below field:

Now when employees that both have the higher duties tag saved to their employee profile and work in this team, Level 2 higher duty rates will apply automatically in the timesheet.

Please see the below example of what this looks like. The grey icon indicates that a tag is associated to the team and is applying:
